Early Years

Jaison Patel is a consultant at Bart’s Health which includes one of the biggest trauma units in Europe at The Royal London Hospital. He specialises in all aspects of knee surgery including total, partial and revision knee replacements, sports injuries of the knee, patellofemoral conditions and osteotomy surgery.

He leads the North-East London Complex Revision Knee Arthroplasty Network and is an honorary senior lecturer at Queen Mary University of London Medical School.

Jaison completed his undergraduate training at Barts and The London School of Medicine. He continued his higher surgical training on the East of England training programme where he rotated through hospitals including Addenbrookes in Cambridge. He completed his fellowship training at the world-renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford.

Jaison is passionate about educating the future generation of surgeons. He completed further training in Healthcare Education at the University of Warwick and held educational roles with The University of Cambridge Medical School. He is a regular faculty member on national knee surgery courses and has written chapters for orthopaedic textbooks.

Jaison provides his patients with the best evidence-based treatments. He is actively engaged in research, having published multiple studies in medical journals and is frequently invited to present at international conferences. The delivery of better care to patients is at the heart of Jaison’s ethos and drove him to complete a healthcare leadership and management course with University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

As a BASK committee member Jaison hopes to develop knee surgery education to trainees, fellows consultants alongside supporting knee surgeons to provide their patients with the best possible care.
